A Fine Russet Glazed Yaozhou Teabowl *
Northern Song (Shannxi Province) - Jin Dynasty, 12 - 13 century A.D.
Diameter: 5 5/8 inches (14.3 cm)

A early stone of conical form standing on a low circular foot, with an elegant everted lip (See similar example in “The Complete Collection of Treasures of The Palace Museum - Porcelain of the Song Dynasty” 1, p.139, no. 125).

In the fall, when the leaves turn nostalgically brown, I often invite guests over to my home, serve “macha” powder green tea in this bowl.
